This EAL accredited course is designed for individuals where the candidate requires a refresher training on the operation of both High and Low Voltage equipment.
The individuals should already have had previous experience of working in a high voltage substation and a knowledge of working on High Voltage Electrical Equipment.
The course has a rough split of 50% classroom- based learning and 50% substation practical learning. The candidates will be required to operate, isolate and earth high voltage equipment, control the safety of the system by completing switching schedules, diagrams and issuing of permits.
Course Content:
- Classroom Safety of Substations
- Legislation and understanding Electrical Safety Rules (ESR’s)
- Switchgear Safety
- Fault Levels and Relay Operation
- Safety Documents (Switching Schedules and Permits)
- Lock Out Tag Out Procedures (LOTO)
- Practical operating High and Low Voltage Electrical Switchgear (Isolations and earthing)
- Practical Exercises
This course is designed for individuals who are required to refresh their existing experience as a high Voltage AP or SAP. The candidate MUST have been previously authorised and trained in a course like the AP11 or similar. The course will require the candidates fulfill the AP/SAP obligations and carry out live isolations and earthing of 11kV High Voltage Systems.
The course will have both Theory and Practical Assessments. The theoretical element will be a computer-based exam.
